Trekking
Cycling in Serbia
Serbia is full of astonishing nature and rich culture, all best experienced if you discover the country by bike. There are three Eurovelo Routes crossing through Serbia, with the Eurovelo 6 route being the most famous and popular. It follows the Danube river from West Serbia to East Serbia, passing through the cities of Novi Sad and Belgrade. the strech eastwards from Belgrade to Romania is arguable the most beautiful part of the Danube of the entire Eurovelo route. It includes the widest part of the Danube of 5,5 km as well as its narrowest part of 150 meter, which at the same time is it’s deepest at 53 meters. besides that there are castles down the tours, traces of a 10.000 year old settlement as well as from Roman times. You are cycling through the most impressive gorges and last but not least, meet the most friendly people who will offer you food and a place to stay.

Infrastructure
The cycling infrastructure in Serbia is not as developed as in some other European countries. But at places where bikepaths are lacking the roads often have very little traffic, so you can bike safely and peacefully. The Eurovelo routes through Serbia are marked by signs marking the directions and distances. The most inconvenient parts of the road are the areas around bigger cities like Novi Sad and Belgrade. It is doable to bike there, but not comfortable. Luckily these are often stretches that last no longer than 30 minutes.
At iBikeBelgrade we are happy to help you create your route and give you tips on where to go and which places to visit or avoid!
